After my post I started to count...on my fingers. Is the "124 to spring training" actually too big? 124 days is roughly four months. But spring training usually starts with the pitchers and catchers reporting on Valentine's Day (or a day before or after, depending on the club) and that is in fewer days. Nov=30 days + Dec=31 days + Jan=31 days + Feb=14 days plus the last day of October=1. I'm coming up with 107. And if that's right, then even sooner is even better! One of you guys check my math, please.
wahoo said the first spring training GAME, not the day pitchers and catchers report. So it's possible that ur BOTH right...

PLAY BALL!

TribefanstuckinMA wrote:Nice, Wahoo! Great job. And look at that top number...in ONE WEEK we'll be down to double-digits!Makes it seem a little closer that way...

GO PHILLIES!
It's like rooting for the Indians anyway, what will Cliff Lee and Ben Fransisco... Any other former Tribe Guys with the Phils? I don't remember.
And Charlie, of course!

THAT's who we passed Pedro up for! I couldn't remember and couldn't find it on-line. Thanks!tribenutupnorth wrote:TribefanstuckinMA wrote:...........plus we almost had Pedro Martinez in the 1990's, but I don't remember the details of why it didn't happen.
That Jaret Wright dude turned out to be one heck of a pitcher, right?![]()

So does this mean you're leaving us?Dnthateonthepronk wrote:yeah and to think we offered up Colon instead of Wright. .......but we got them back later...but then the Phillies got us
F@#$ baseball

Just read the bit about the trade on the famous Wiki! And started to think about how many times the Tribe has made trades similar to that but on a less dramatic scale. Unfortunately, the Tribe is usually playing the part of The Cubs in the scenarios.tribenutupnorth wrote:There are certain trades you wish you could have back. The Pedro trade (it probably cost us a championship) and for the Cubs, the infamous Lou Brock trade...

tribenutupnorth wrote:Wahoo1324 wrote:More off topic: Did anyone watch the Iowa vs. Indiana game? Man, the refs were horrible. One of the announcers suggested that the Big Ten refs didn't want Indiana to win because it would take Iowa out of the running for the championship.
It was horrible, though.
Iowa has had a ton of close calls that they just dodged. I don't think they're a number 4 team.
I agree. Now they're just waiting for Texas to lose. However, that seems unlikely. Looks like it'll be Oregon and Iowa in the Rose bowl and Texas and the SEC winner in the National championship.
tribenutupnorth wrote:To put it kindly, Ohio state is screwed. Their final 3 games are against Penn State, Iowa, and Michigan. PSU and Iowa are good this year, and OSU-Michigan is almost always a dogfight, even when one team is having a down year. OSU has to travel to Happy Valley and Ann Arbor, the two biggest stadiums in the country, I think. Beaver Stadium is notoriously loud and hostile, and Michigan stadium is a TON louder now that they completed the luxury boxes on the west side of the stadium. The Buckeyes would have to win out in order to win the Big Ten, because I don't anticipate Iowa losing to Northwestern or Minnesota
Unlike the Easybeats, it's not Friday I have on my mind, it's Saturday. Because...THAT is the day our small number becomes smaller! It will be only 99 days until catchers and pitchers report! Yay!tribenutupnorth wrote:104 DAYS Until the first spring training game!

Yup, Michigan Sucks! Oh, and GO BUCKS!tribenutupnorth wrote:Dnthateonthepronk wrote:MICHIGAN SUCKS
I was waiting for that

GO BUCKS!
You forgot the time of day. At least do the time check right! Are you going to do this every day until opening day too?
It's my call. What you think doesn't matter. And it's probably wrong anyway. Especially since...tribenutupnorth wrote:MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS!
GO BUCKS!
MICHIGAN SUCKS 24/7
IMO...

Speaking of which... I officially hate every single host on WTAM.

How could anyone ever forget? It's a well-known fact that MICHIGAN SUCKS!, isn't it?Dnthateonthepronk wrote:....ahem.....MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS just in case anybody forgot
Actually, he might have been the hero of the 1997 World Series... except that Nagy gave up a hit and we lost...tribenutupnorth wrote:That Jaret Wright dude turned out to be one heck of a pitcher, right?![]()

Ouch. Don't give up your day job to become a football analyst or prognosticator.tribenutupnorth wrote:Wahoo1324 wrote:If OSU beats Iowa, I think they'll go to the Rose Bowl.
